End of Program!

Once again, Irie Eco Summer Program has come to an end and has been a great fun!

In our 4th year our essential goals have remained the same: happy children; smiling faces; friendships made; healthy living; ecological awareness; cultural sensitivity and most important immersion into nature!

All the favourite summer activities from the years past were still there!
learning to swim, practicing foreign languages, identifying plants birds and animals in the rainforest, trail hiking, arts and crafts, cultural tours, yoga, eco education, drama, dance
And the recent addition of sailing classes and pottery turned out a succes!
The three different outings each week to different sites gave us an opportunity to play games, go on treasure hunts, try some nature art and to generally discover Dominica’s varied wildlife in a wide variety of locations: Papillote Wilderness Resort, Laudat and Titou Gorge, Cabrits, Layou and ofcourse the Roseau River and the traditional Whale Watch were all part of the highlights of this summer.

The children have been in the caring hands of Traci Coates, Liesbet Schroe, Lucil Bonnin, Kirstyn Goncalves and Trudy Scott Prevost. The enthusiasm and expertise of our staff in arts and crafts, pottery, games, yoga, movements, drama, dance and sports ensured that all participating children, even the ones returning, had new exciting things to do each day. We would like to include a heart felt thanks to our staff.

The support we have received has been overwhelming and we would like to thank, once again, everyone who has made a contribution towards this year’s program.

Updates Summer Program

As summer draws near so we would like to update you on the latest news about our 4th International Irie Eco Children’s Summer Programme located at the Alliance Française and running from July 12th to August 13th 2010!
We are happy to organize once again such great summer holidays and we are excited to see it shaping up!
This year, we will be offering drama, dancing, yoga, arts and crafts, sports, eco education, pottery, sailing classes and a lot of fun games. We’ll have a special focus on languages introducing French and Spanish vocabulary in daily conversations.
As per our traditional 3 different outings every week, we have again planned visits to exciting new sites to include the opportunity for games, treasure hunts, nature art and discovery of our wildlife in a wide variety of locations. We can already tell you that we’ll be going on a whale watch and a bird watch, on a historical tour with Lennox Honeychurch, horseback riding and ATV’s and kayaking. We’ll be going to Wacky Rollers Adventure Parc, gardens, beaches, rivers and warm waters. And we will of course enjoy our legendaries local lunches cooked on fire by river pools and bassins...
We are pleased to once again have sourced an interesting, eclectic, knowledgeable and experienced staff from all over the world. Meet them on their special page...
Our program is organised this year for children from 5 to 10-11 years old.
Younger and older children (up to 12 years old) are welcome on our outing days (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) as long as they give us advance notice to organise transport and the younger ones (under 5) must be accompanied by an adult.
Our teachers are trained in non-violent behaviour management and are encouraged to be actively involved in every program.
Register you child(ren) today for a healthy, educational and interesting summer that they will enthusiastically attend and remember fondly.
Space Limited! Register now!
